About Dr.S.Nishanth

Dr.S.Nishanth is a specialist in internal medicine and critical care, offering a "Full spectrum of care from outpatient services to the management of critically ill patients". He is available full-time at SKS Hospital and Postgraduate Medical Institute, where he heads the Department of Critical Care Medicine, leading a highly skilled team equipped with advanced technologies, including ECMO, to effectively manage complex cases.
He completed his postgraduate training at JIPMER, a premier institute of national importance, where he developed a strong interest in critical care. This passion motivated him to pursue a career in the field, culminating in a critical care fellowship from the National Board.
SKS ICU is one of the best ICUs(Intensive care unit) in salem, serving and caring complex sick patients from surrounding districts.He also holds MRCP and EDIC qualifications, attesting to his clinical expertise in both internal medicine and critical care medicine. Additionally, he holds a fellowship in ECMO endorsed by the ECMO Society of India. His specific areas of interest include infectious diseases,pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO), tropical fevers such as dengue, toxicology, ARDS, septic shock, obstetric critical care and complex medical cases.
Looking to the future, Dr.S.Nishanth envisions expanding the critical care unit with additional beds and developing it into a center of excellence in critical care. His critical care team is ably supported by all superspecialties, ensuring comprehensive care for patients. The critical care unit also serves as an academic center, holding affiliation from the National Board to run training programs for doctors, including DrNB (National Board) in Critical Care, as well as IDCCM (ISCCM) and IDCCN programs for nurses.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr.S.Nishanth is dedicated to advancing knowledge in critical care. He exemplifies this commitment through an annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) program he conducts each June, with highlights available in the gallery.
